Choosing the Right Work Glove
Not every work glove should do the same job.
Some gloves are built for feel and control. Others are built for tougher wear and longer life. At TRUCK PRO, we rate each glove around two key performance traits to help you quickly understand where it fits in the line.
The Two Things We Rate
Dexterity
Dexterity reflects how naturally a glove moves with your hand. It describes feel, control, and how easy it is to handle tools and materials while wearing it.
- Average — A more structured or protective feel, with less precision and fingertip sensitivity
- Good — A balanced mix of comfort, control, and durability for a wide range of jobs
- Great — A more natural hand feel with strong control and minimal restriction
Abrasion Resistance
Abrasion resistance reflects how well a glove stands up to repeated wear over time. In real work, abrasion is what often kills a glove first — leading to worn-through areas, seam failure, and holes in key wear zones.
- Moderate — Built for real work, but better suited to lighter wear or faster glove consumption
- High — Strong durability for repeated daily use across a wide range of work
- Very High — Built for harder wear, tougher conditions, and longer life where glove abuse is expected
What Drives These Ratings
Our ratings are based on the glove as a whole — not just one material spec.
We look at:
- leather choice
- leather grade
- pattern design
- finger construction
- seam placement
- overall intended use
This means the rating reflects how the glove performs in the real world, not just what it’s made from on paper.
A Simple Way to Think About It
Most work gloves involve a tradeoff:
More dexterity = better feel and control
More abrasion resistance = stronger durability over time
Some gloves lean toward precision.
Some lean toward durability.
The best glove depends on the kind of work you do most.
Use Case Examples
Choose higher dexterity if you want:
- better feel on tools and controls
- more natural hand movement
- less bulk and restriction
- faster, more precise work
Choose higher abrasion resistance if you want:
- longer wear in rough conditions
- better durability in high-contact tasks
- stronger resistance to wear zones and breakdown
- a glove built for harder abuse
Rated Relative to the TRUCK PRO Work Line
These ratings are designed to help you compare gloves within the TRUCK PRO work line.
A glove rated Moderate for abrasion resistance is not a bad glove — it simply means it is built with a different priority than one of our more durability-focused models.
Start With the Kind of Work You Do Most
Ask yourself:
- Do I need more feel and control?
- Am I hard on gloves and regularly wear them out?
- Am I working in rough, abrasive conditions?
- Is this glove for precision, durability, or a balance of both?
Those answers will usually point you in the right direction.
